Acne treatment

It is a chronic condition associated with overactive sebaceous glands combined with excessive keratinisation and bacterial proliferation. Many factors are responsible for over-stimulation of the glands, e.g. hormones, growth factors and components of our diet. Acne is mainly attributed to adolescence and occurs in almost 80 % of adolescents, manifesting itself in the popularly known pimples or pimples. Most often, acne manifests itself in the form of blackheads, and the bacteria living on the skin multiply to form sebum, causing an inflammatory reaction leading to the formation of pimples. Acne occurs in the area of greatest sebaceous gland accumulation and most often manifests itself on the face – that is, on the nose, chin, cheeks, forehead, as well as on the back, décolleté and even the buttocks area. Of course, there are people who are mildly or moderately affected, but there are also those for whom acne in its acute form will be very disturbing and may even lead to acne scarring.

In the case of acne-prone skin, our dermatologists at Medicus Clinic always develop a treatment plan that will aim to shorten the course and severity of the disease and take into account all acne treatment recommendations, including the prevention of scarring or hyperpigmentation, and if these are already unavoidable they will present a plan for their elimination. During the dermatological consultation, an assessment of the extent of the lesions, the size of the acne lesions, the severity of seborrhoea, previous therapy, and any tendency to complications in the form of hyperpigmentation or acne scarring will form the basis for the implementation of the treatment plan.

It should also be stressed that the acne treatment plan is selected individually for each patient and the use of the same preparations on two different people may produce different results, hence the safest and best solution is a dermatological consultation.

Often, combined therapy methods are used in the treatment plan along with therapeutic treatments or laser therapy. This approach to the patient is our standard in order to meet expectations as quickly as possible – because most patients want to get rid of their acne skin problem as soon as possible.

At our Clinic, we use products from the renowned American brand DermaQuest. Therapeutic treatments and advanced chemical peels.

Depending on the type of acne, acne treatment is supported by peels and laser therapy in addition to topical and oral medication.
