For whom

Botulinum toxin is one of the most common substances used in aesthetic medicine. When injected into a muscle, it allows the muscle to contract. Smoothes existing wrinkles. Botulinum toxin treatment is additionally a prevention of skin ageing, as it reduces overly expressive facial expressions.

Anaesthesia and course of treatment and recovery

Botulinum toxin is applied to cleansed and degreased skin using a disposable syringe with a very fine needle. This allows the active substance to reach a precise location. This ensures that it only works within the muscles in which it is administered. The treatment takes about 20 minutes. The patient is given a local anaesthetic using Emla cream. The procedure does not require any recovery time.

Effect

The first effects are visible after 2-3 days, but are best seen after about 7-10 days. The body counteracts Botox over time by producing new nerve fibres over the following months. To maintain the effects, the treatment must be repeated after this time. This is most often indicated approximately 3-4 months after the treatment, but largely depends on the individual body’s predisposition. However, when the patient chooses not to undergo a second treatment, the skin returns to its normal pre-treatment condition and ages in accordance with biological processes
