Chronic otitis media (polyp) – perlage excision

The aim of the operation is to remove all diseased tissue from the middle ear space. The operation is performed through the external ear canal or through a skin incision behind the auricle. During the procedure, the inflamed bone behind the auricle is removed, and the middle ear spaces are cleared of perloma, granulation tissue and polyps. It is also often necessary to remove the ossicles (malleus and anvil), which have been damaged by inflammation. The most important thing is to remove foci of inflammation from the middle ear, in order to protect the patient from life-threatening complications.

If possible, tympanoplastic surgery – reconstruction of the eardrum and ossicles – is performed at the same time to preserve or improve hearing. If it is not possible to combine both procedures – the hearing improvement procedure is carried out after the ear has completely healed, i.e. after several months
