Removal of a cervical polyp
A cervical polyp is formed when the epithelium and tissues covering the cervical cavity and canal proliferate, forming dilated glandular ducts. Removal of a cervical polyp is necessary if it occurs, as it poses an oncological risk and can block the entrance to either the cervical canal or the fallopian tubes, preventing pregnancy. A cervical polyp can be removed during ablation, which involves coining the polyp, or abrasion, which is a more invasive operation.
