Scar removal
Problem
Normal scars, scarring, hypertrophic scars, atrophic scars – face and body.
For whom
Scars, i.e. unsightly marks from various types of skin damage, are a problem for many people. They can be caused by trauma, surgery, burns, a history of smallpox or acne. Scar formation is a natural stage of wound healing – the damaged dermis is replaced by fibrous connective tissue. Its colour and texture are markedly different from healthy tissue, which is why large and visible scars often pose a significant aesthetic problem and can cause complexes.
If the lesions are causing physical or – especially in the case of those located in visible areas on the body – psychological discomfort, it is worth treating them. Modern technology and appropriate treatment techniques at Medicus Clinic make it possible to significantly reduce or even completely remove existing scars.
Types of scars
- Normal scars are the result of prolonged healing time in a traumatic or post-operative wound. They are initially bluish red in colour, hard, thickened and may cause burning or itching. With the passage of time, they fade and soften becoming hardly visible, and the itching sensation also disappears.
- Hypertrophic scars are the consequence of an abnormal healing process, such as a post-operative infection or a gaping wound. These are broad, hard and inflexible changes.
- Atrophic scars are lesions resembling small dimples that develop after acne or chickenpox. In both cases, the healing process is abnormal and the body does not produce enough connective tissue fibres, so a considerable amount of tissue loss is visible.
- Scarring , otherwise known as keloids, grows after the wound has already healed and is usually larger than the area of skin that has been damaged. They are convex, hard and characterised by a shiny and smooth surface. They are usually red in colour and accompanied by itching and pain.
