Tinea pedis 

Nail fungus is an infection of the nail plates caused by fungi. The changes that are most commonly seen in the nails are thickening, change in colour, excessive keratosis and brittleness of the nails. 

Dermatomycosis is characterised by focal erythematous and exfoliative lesions located mainly on exposed skin. 

Dermatomycosis is a contagious disease that cannot be underestimated as it spreads very easily and one carrier can infect others in a short period of time. 

Factors favouring the development of skin and nail fungus: immunosuppression, innervation and blood supply disorders caused by diabetes, inappropriate footwear or wearing the same shoes too often, abnormal foot and nail structure, dermatological conditions (e.g. lichen planus, psoriasis), excessive sweating, poor hygiene. 

Treatment: 

Depending on the stage of the disease, in addition to topical and oral antifungal drugs, the treatment of onychomycosis is assisted by laser therapy, which gives an additional boost to the treatment effect in the case of onychomycosis. 

At Medicus Clinic, we offer the laser therapy technique for the treatment of nail lesions with good results. Combined therapies are used in the treatment plan, as this approach to the patient is our standard in order to meet expectations as quickly as possible, since most patients want to get rid of their mycosis problem as soon as possible. 

Treatment with Nd:Yag laser. It involves irradiating the nail plate and nearby skin, thus heating the treatment area and destroying the cause of the fungal infection. A series of treatments is recommended to eliminate the ringworm problem.
